Day of Reckoning
by Pam Valentine
13th - 16th May 2009
"Church Affairs... village affairs... any other affairs..."
The summer fête committee of a typical British village is in the throes of planning its annual event - and some of the committee are not playing fair. Discussion of the fête arrangements soon gives way to a fare of bickering, gossip and the sharing of not-so-secret secrets - "How much of the communion wine is the Vicar drinking?"; "How his wife is coping?"; "Who's taken a special interest in the school's somewhat naïve teacher?"...
Day of Reckoning, written by Pam Valentine, is a hilarious, touching and challenging play exploring the affairs of typical village life. Some of those affairs are funny, some affairs are darker than others, and some affairs lead to a Day of Reckoning.
The ensemble cast features established Beeston Players actors Debbie Blake, Alison Williams, Barbara Barton, Mary Rowlinson, Emma Lufkin and Trevor Pole, joined by relative newcomers Debbie Hodgkin and Gillian Duffield. "Day of Reckoning" is directed by Samuel Williams. Contains some adult themes.
